Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds, which often move in large family groups along the Tarangire River. The park is also dotted with iconic baobab trees, which provide stunning photo opportunities. As you drive through the savannah, your guide will help spot lions lounging under trees, giraffes browsing treetops, herds of zebras and wildebeests, and even elusive predators such as leopards or cheetahs. Bird enthusiasts will delight in over 500 species, including the colorful lilac-breasted roller and African fish eagle.
In the late afternoon, exit the park and transfer to your lodge in Karatu. Enjoy dinner and overnight in comfort, while recounting the day’s wildlife encounters.

After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, set at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. This park offers a striking contrast to Tarangire, with its lush forests, alkaline lake, and dense vegetation attracting a wide variety of wildlife.
Enjoy a full game drive exploring the park’s diverse habitats. Look for the famous tree-climbing lions, who often rest in acacia trees overlooking the plains. See large herds of elephants and buffaloes, graceful giraffes browsing in the treetops, and troops of baboons and blue monkeys playing in the forests. On the lake shores, witness thousands of flamingos, pelicans, and other waterbirds creating a spectacular scene.
Your guide will share insights on the park’s ecosystem, wildlife behavior, and the Great Rift Valley’s geology. After a picnic lunch inside the park, drive back to Arusha in the late afternoon, arriving at your hotel for overnight.
